And so concludes my top 10 lists for this year’s movies. You can see part 1 here.

There is always the chance that I will wind up seeing something over the holidays that would affect the rankings, but that was not the case this year with The Hobbit or Django Unchained, neither of which I enjoyed more than the tenth best film (Silent House) or less than the tenth worst (Men in Black 3). They fall into the middle category of regular movies that were not spectacular in either direction. Last week I listed the two-star movies that didn’t make this worst list, so here are the movies that fell short of the best movies list:

Wreck-It Ralph (***)
Safety Not Guaranteed (***)
The House At the End of the Street (***)
Beat Down (***)
Step Up Revolution 3D (***)
The Amazing Spider-Man (***)
Brave (***)
Snow White and the Huntsman (***)
Goon (***)
The Cabin in the Woods (***)
The Hunger Games (***1/2)
John Carter (***)
The Secret World of Arietty (****)
Chronicle (***)
Django Unchained (***)

That’s not a bad list, really. This year at the movies was a pretty good one. Like last week, you can read my reviews of the films listed above at my blog, and some of them are available for streaming through Netflix or on DVD.

As I write this, Nicole and I are winding up our holidays and I am in the midst of moving to a different apartment, so it is entirely possible that next week will be another fill-in of some kind instead of a comic while we get situated. We beg your forgiveness and promise to return stronger than ever the following Sunday. In the meantime, happy new year to you all, and happy birthday to our friend Kaela on the 3rd! She is arguably TWAH’s biggest fan and has a character named after her. Thanks as always for reading!
